Some stories cannot be told in a single painting. “Revival” unfolds through two moments that exist between death and life, silence and breath, darkness and light. The diptych is based on the Gospel story of Lazarus. But for me, it is a reflection on one of the most profound human experiences—the possibility of starting life anew. The first painting captures a moment of complete stillness. A moment when everything seems to have come to an end, even though life itself is already on the threshold. The second painting speaks of a return. Of the coolness of the grass beneath bare feet. About the gentle movement of the wind. About the first sensation of life filling a person once again. About a butterfly whose touch resembles the first breath of a new life. The circular shape of both works symbolizes eternity, continuity, and infinity. The butterfly becomes not merely a symbol of transformation but a return to life—a life as light and fragile as a butterfly.
